UMass Boston's ACEP certificate was one of the first addiction counselor education programs to be awarded licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Graduates are automatically recognized as fulfilling educational requirements for state licensure as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).*
Program is the fastest, least expensive path to becoming a State-licensed human services professional, with the ability to become licensed without a degree.
Program prepares students for the written licensure exam by providing a two-day workshop on preparing for the exam. The program's 300-hour practicum requirement allows students to access potential employment sources and complete some of the required practical hours for licensure.
Program offers continuing education credits for those seeking recertification. Students who already hold a master's degree in the Behavioral Sciences field can upgrade to a Master's level license, which would allow you to open a private practice, bill insurance companies, and apply for jobs.
