Description

This course covers the tools and methodologies essential for resolving intricate issues within largescale Cyber-Physical Energy Systems (CPES), addressing prevalent challenges encountered in today¿s power industry. Covered topics include a comprehensive review of power system operation and the per-unit normalization alongside system modeling of expansive grids. Emphasis is placed on constructing network admittance and impedance matrices, conducting power flow calculations, and optimizing dispatch operations. Additionally, the course covers time-domain modeling of generators, symmetrical component modeling for unbalanced systems, as well as both balanced and unbalanced fault analyses. Transient stability studies, generator control, system protection, and transmission line transients will also be briefly explored. The incorporation of computer-based activities, particularly utilizing MATLAB and engineering toolboxes (e.g., Simulink, Simscape Electrical, etc.), will be integrated into the learning process. Through a blend of theoretical foundations and homework assignments, students will solve practical operation research problems.
