Description

This upper-level course is intended to provide an overview of a specific field of neuroscience: behavioral neuroscience. Behavioral neuroscience is the study of the processes underlying the biological basis of human behavior, using an interdisciplinary approach that combines psychology, biology, and chemistry. Topics that will be covered include: neuroanatomy, brain physiology, psychopharmacology, hormones and behavior, emotions and stress, and psychopathology. This course also includes a critical discussion of various research techniques and empirical studies. One goal for students is to develop critical thinking skills, as consumers of scientific information.

Prerequisites

PSYCH 100, and PSYCH 260 or any BIOL course
