Description

This course analyzes the development of multicellular organisms, focusing on animal development. Major themes of the course include how complex organisms develop from a single cell and how developmental processes continue throughout the life of the organism. Developmental processes that are discussed include cell interactions, cell differentiation, morphogenesis, and pattern formation. These processes are explored in the context of their role in constructing complex and organized tissues, organs, and organisms. Lectures include the use of experimental evidence to understand development and explore the commonality of mechanisms in different organisms.

Prerequisites
