Description

This course familiarizes students with teaching PK-12 multilingual learners, including immigrant children and youth in the United States and elsewhere. Students explore strengths-based language teaching pedagogy with a special focus on English learners in Massachusetts. The course emphasizes theory-to-practice connections and community-engaged activism in ESL, Bilingual Education, and Sheltered English instruction. The course raises critical awareness and reflective practice for teachers of Multilingual Learners and leads them to make informed pedagogical decisions.
